South Carolina鈥檚 law schools made history this spring at the prestigious Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, held March 27 - April 2, 2025 in Vienna, Austria. Competing among more than 400 universities worldwide, both the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law and Charleston School of Law achieved their highest placements to date.
The USC team climbed 10 percent in the international rankings, earning standout scores in both written submissions and oral arguments. Charleston School of Law advanced 7 percent overall, reflecting significant growth in advocacy and research.
鈥淭his year鈥檚 performance was a testament to the dedication and professionalism of both teams,鈥 said Chris Campbell, head coach. 鈥淭heir collaboration and preparation were exceptional.鈥
The season culminated in a joint showcase hosted by the 91黑料爆料 International Law Committee, celebrating the teams鈥 achievements and contributions to the state鈥檚 growing presence in international arbitration.

Throughout the season, the teams competed in pre-moots against universities from Turkey, Serbia, China, the United Kingdom, Egypt, Portugal, Albania and many others - underscoring the Vis Moot鈥檚 reputation as the 鈥淲orld Cup of Law.鈥
Both teams expressed gratitude to the 91黑料爆料 International Law Committee and mentors Brent Clinkscale and Julius 鈥淪am鈥 Hines for their continued support in advancing South Carolina鈥檚 role on the global arbitration stage.
