About Us
The mission of the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association (SCWLA) is to enhance the status, influence and effectiveness of women lawyers in the State of South Carolina. SCWLA will, through advocacy, action and association, take positive steps to ensure that women lawyers achieve their fair share of opportunities and benefits available to those in the legal profession.
Summary of Responsibilities
The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors, and has overall operational responsibility for the day-to-day management of the association, and other tasks as discussed below and as otherwise assigned. The Executive Director will report directly to the Executive Committee who can provide time and resource assessments for work load, if needed.
Financial:

Makes Bank Deposits
Assists in preparation of the annual budget
Maintains Accounts
Maintains a record of revenue and expenses.
Provides timely reports to the Treasurer
Provides reports to the IRS as required
Membership
Maintains membership records
Maintains the online membership directory
Assists Chair of membership committees in developing strategies and systems to recruit and retain members
Assists with logistics (zoom set up, CLE applications, etc) for continuing education seminars
Long Term Planning
Ensures that operations and programs are consistent with organizations
Develops management systems to ensure successful transition between Boards
Communications
Assists in maintaining, editing, and providing content for electronic newsletter, website, listserv, email accounts, and social media; including but not limited to event announcements, employment and volunteer opportunities, and membership updates
Serves as contact point for the organization via mail, email, and telephone
Maintains and provides digital security for all files, legal, historic documents, memorabilia meeting minutes, current bylaws, and membership mailing lists and ensuring the physical security of all items maintained in the organization鈥檚 offsite storage location
Maintains and checks for mail on regular basis from post office box
Answers inquiries from the public, members, and board members or directs inquiries to the appropriate officer, board or committee member
Prepares, with the help of the President and Secretary an agenda for the Board meetings; coordinates meetings dates and locations; provides each member of the Board with a copy of the agenda in the advance of meetings
Events
Facilitates and tracks registration both before and at the event
Creates name tags and placards as needed
Maintains the organization鈥檚 calendar to include Regional events, Board Meetings, and important legal deadlines
Assists with publicity
Coordinates with on-site event staff as needed to provide logistical support.
Provides tools and support to committees and Regional Representatives to help them succeed in implementing events and projects.
Assistance to Board and Committees
Assures that the Board members and staff are kept fully informed of the conditions and operations of the organization and on all important factors influencing them
Attends all executive committee and board meetings
Works with Board of Directors to update planning, establish annual priorities, and provide continuity to assure the organization鈥檚 mission and goals are furthered threw SCWLA鈥檚 committees
Provides assistance as requested to the board and committees, and provides information about and assistance with logistical considerations and historical practice
Attends committee meetings by invitation
Additional tasks as may be assigned by the Board of Directors as needed.
Time Commitment/Salary
Part Time - approximately 10 hours per week
Schedule varies based upon events and needs of the organization
$25,000-$30,000/year
Potential for discretionary bonus
